What are the CNESST pricing models?

This pricing model allows a business to pay a personalized base assessment and then be reimbursed or billed afterward based on the actual costs of claims that occurred during the year. This model is advantageous for businesses that effectively manage their claims, as it can lead to significant savings. However, it also exposes them to higher financial volatility.

What is retrospective rating?

In the retrospective model, you must set an insurance limit for each claim. This means that if the cost of a claim exceeds a certain amount, the CNESST will cover the excess.The choice of this limit has a direct impact on your assessment: a lower limit reduces your risk but increases your insurance premium. Conversely, a higher limit may be less expensive but requires a greater tolerance for risk. The insurance limit must be communicated to CNESST before December 15 for the following year.
